Services and Fees

In my work, I focus on the relief of pain and tension. I will also work on improving and restoration of lost or compromised function due to injury or illness. I collaborate with your healthcare team, one that often consists of your medical doctor, naturopath, family nurse practitioner, chiropractor, and physical therapist.

Medical Massage: I believe in safe and goal-oriented treatment. In most cases, medical massage requires a prescription from a physician and/or coverage by your insurance carrier. Treatment plans are individually tailored to address the musculoskeletal and fascia specific conditions due to a medical condition or injuries sustained in an accident. Sessions may include multiple therapeutic massage modalities, which will be determined on your first session. This service includes initial evaluation thorough assessment, range-of-motion testing when appropriate, visual and palpatory testing, clinical charting, ongoing assessment, and involves a team-based approach to case management in collaboration with healthcare providers and case managers. If you plan to use health insurance or personal injury protection, we offer to bill services for your convenience at no additional cost. Rates are based on units of 15 minutes, at up to $53.75 per unit. Sessions can vary in frequency and duration, between 2 units and 6 units per session, depending on your condition's acuity and severity, physician recommendations, and the number of affected areas to treat. No discounts offered for rehabiliative services.

Wellness Massage: This basic service is a great way to manage the usual aches, pains, and stressors related to your everyday life. The goal is to promote a sense of overall well-being to feel your best as you go through your daily life. Relaxation massage is designed to ease your tensions, improve circulation, and promote overall wellness.

Structural Bodywork / Postural Mechanics:  Massage can help get your body back on track. Allowing the body to reinforce healthy and natural movements can be one of the most beneficial aspects of massage therapy. Massage can relax and loosen the muscles made sore by bad posture, allowing your body to reset itself in its natural-and pain-free-posture. Massage bodywork techniques can improve body alignment, improve functionality, and reduce your pain.

Deep Tissue Massage:  Deep tissue massage is a technique mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target your muscles and connective tissues' inner layers. It can break up scar tissue and make movement easier. Deep Tissue Massage rehabilitates strained muscles and reduces pain.

Shiatsu:  This type of massage is best for people who want to feel relaxed and relieve stress, pain, and tension. It's a Japanese type of massage that: promotes emotional and physical calm and relaxation. It can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Shiatsu means "finger pressure" in Japanese. During this type of massage, Shiatsu therapists use firm pressure-point and muscle manipulation techniques using fingers and elbows, knees, and feet. This pressure is placed along specific points of your body, called meridians, to release tension. You typically wear loose-fitting clothing.

Therapeutic massage sessions and goals vary from patient to patient. Please contact me if you have questions about which service or technique may be right for you.

Lomi Lomi - “Lomi lomi” is a traditional healing technique, passed on from ancient Hawaiians. The word means “rub” or “massage” in Hawaiian. Using natural oils along with Lomi lomi, this massage provides relaxation. Sometimes aroma essential oils are also used during lomi lomi massage. Lomi lomi massage has the effect of improving the flow of blood and lymph, while normalizing the internal bodily functions. Lomi lomi is effective for recovering from fatigue, eliminating swelling, and reducing jet lag from your travel destinations. Because this is one of many relaxation massages, it is expected to reduce stress and provide healing effects. It also helps to strengthen your immune system which can eventually build up your body’s resistance to disease.

Pre-Natal Massage - Prenatal massage predominantly uses the Swedish massage technique, which focuses on long, sweeping strokes with only minimal pressure applied to the body. Deep tissue pressure, which is common in other therapeutic massages, won't be used as it could potentially be harmful to mother or baby.
